Gera­nium Man Guest Speaker at Oc­to­ber Bromeliad Meet­ing

At the next meet­ing of the Bromeliad So­ci­ety of Aus­tralia be­ing held on Satur­day, 14 Oc­to­ber at the Fed­er­a­tion Pav­il­ion, Cas­tle Hill Show­ground, Cas­tle Hill the guest speaker will be the very en­ter­tain­ing and in­for­ma­tive Gera­nium Man. Sale of plants from 11am with the meet­ing com­menc­ing at 12noon and ev­ery­one is wel­come.

Gera­nium Man will talk about the best po­si­tions to grow gera­ni­ums, fer­til­is­ing and wa­ter­ing and the best va­ri­eties with long-last­ing flow­er­ing. Gera­ni­ums are per­fectly suited for to­days gar­dens as they pro­vide in­stant colour with pot­ted plants be­ing very “in” at the mo­ment with home dec­o­ra­tors.

He will also cover the best time to prune gera­ni­ums and how hard to prune the best types of pot­ting mixes for gera­ni­ums.

There will be an op­por­tu­nity for mem­bers and their guest to pur­chase gera­ni­ums from the Gera­nium Man at the meet­ing.

Gera­ni­ums are known for their drought and heat tol­er­ance, but also for fo­liage and per­fumed flow­ers. If you’ve vis­ited any of the Mediter­ranean coun­tries you will usu­ally see Gera­ni­ums ev­ery­where bright­en­ing up court­yards and bal­conies.
