Hillside students continue to excel! Congratulations to our Touch Football Knockout team on winning their first round game against La Perouse Public School. Both teams displayed great sportsmanship and perseverance Hillside team will now be travelling to Yanderra for their next game. We know they will continue to represent Hillside with pride. It was wonderful to be supported on the day by our dedicated parents and grandparents. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive school community.

Hillside was announced as Champion School at the recent Beecroft Zone Cross Country. What a wonderful achievement for all our students. This follows the school being Champion School at the Zone Swimming Carnival in Term 1. Congratulations must go to Madison in Year 5 for successfully being selected in the combined Beecroft/Ryde girls Touch Football team. She displayed great skill and sportsmanship at the recent North Sydney Area Trials, but was not chosen for the team. Every student has so many sporting opportunities at Hillside.

The senior students have been honing their problem solving skills and a embracing the challenge of participating in the APSMO (Australian Primary Schools Maths Olympiad) competition. This year there has been a focus on strengthening students’ writing. All students participate in many writing activities each week. They are looking forward to their participation in the writers’ workshop, early next term, with the Australian author Dr Cameron Stelzer.

The school is currently converting one of its classrooms into a dedicated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and Maker Space. The room will be utilised by all students when participating in a variety of learning activities. It will be a wonderful addition to the great facilities at Hillside.

Hillside is currently taking Kindergarten Enrolments for 2019. Please visit our awesome school and find out why your child will flourish in our small school environment. Please contact the school office on 9652 1459. August 20th
