COMMUNIT Y NEWS WISEMANS FERRY MENS SHED The final event for the year will be our Annual General Meeting on 15th December,2018 commencing at 10 a.m. followed thereafter by a Prawn and Chicken lunch prepared by the members to celebrate the festive season. Anybody connected to the Shed is invited, especially the volunteers, contributo­rs and the generous band of business people who assist in every way possible for the success of the Shed and its ideals. O mens sheds and especially a visit to Windsor Museum which have many artifacts of our convict heritage. Some of the items that we are seeking to have for our shed are an anvil or section of rail track, used hardwood to build racking, usable timber of all forms, old unwanted tools, nails and screws. If you have any of these items or anything that you feel could be of interest to us please ring Adrian or Alan to arrange pick-up. members and for this we need the the community to register their interest if they wish to participat­e. Also we are calling for any galvanised unwanted water tanks that we can convert to raised garden beds. If you have one please ring Adrian or Alan who can arrange pick-up. Our Shed bus with wheelchair access has been active during the year with several outstandin­g trips namely to RAAF base at Richmond and the antique machinery show at Hawkesbury racecourse. Our upcoming trips organised will be to visit local private collection of pre 1940 air planes and visits to some other to improve their exercise regime and to improve the general health of the residents and also have another asset to attract people to the area. Our monthly markets/ car boot sales held on the first Saturday of the month in the car park of the Club have been hampered by the weather but these will continue into the new year with hopefully improved weather conditions. Please note that there will be no markets in January 2019. In the new year we have organised Tafe courses in wood turning,basic car maintenanc­e, beginners and advanced computer courses and landscapin­g. The next big project will be building a community garden using raised garden beds to grow herbs, vegetables and general plants to be maintained by our ur industrial grade dust extraction system is currently being installed and completed by our generous and supportive Mark Davis and his team from Noppen Group and as soon as this is completed we will go ahead with the installati­on of our copper pipe air system for air tools and compressor to complete our internal fit-out. Also extra 3 phase power outlets to be installed for our bigger workshop machines. The latest news on the proposed walking track, work-out stations, rest areas and frisbee course is progressin­g slowly but we have now finished the plans to be considered by Council and have approached several groups for the funding of the project.
