Trim passionfruit vines to remove bulk and make way for spring growth and owers Prepare suitable sites for planting tropical fruit trees

Pull out winter crops that have passed their best to make space for spring vegies (above) Add a half handful of lime, dolomite or gypsum per square metre before planting tomatoes Fertilise fruit trees, give them a deep watering, and nish with a layer of mulch

Clear out compost bays to make way for new material

Plant summer crops where soil is warm and in cool areas raise potted seedlings in a warm spot Spread well-rotted manure over vegie beds to boost spring growth

Harvest asparagus (below) daily as new-season shoots come on
