PROBLEM SOLVER

-

Why is my lemon tree dropping so many tiny fruit?

Don’t be alarmed. This is the natural thinning of excess fruit formed in spring. The tree would be unable to support all of it anyway.

Why does my lemon tree have curling, silvery leaves?

This is caused by citrus leafminer, a pest that attacks fresh growth. Spray new growth with diluted horticultural oil once a fortnight to deter the citrus leafminer moth from laying eggs on it.

Will horticultural oil help to control any other pests on my lemon tree? Yes, it can control scale insects on leaves, stems, branches and trunks, along with aphids that attack new growth, particularly in spring. When applied in winter, it helps to control bronze orange bug (stink bug) in the pink nymphal stage, but is not effective once the bug turns orange.
