small but perfectly formed

My potting shed is my happy place. It was an existing, very plain shed on the property when we moved in, and I quickly claimed it and began to fill it with all my treasures. It’s very compact (about 1m x 2m), which has forced me to be organised – there is a place for everything, and everything in its place. I love using tools that are attractive, as well as functional and good quality, and I make sure I look after them well, including my favourite spade, which I’ve used every day for more than 25 years. If you buy quality, it lasts. My shed even smells delicious – a heady mix of wood and earth. I spend many happy hours in there sorting seed packets and potting up plants and seedlings.
