Based on the true story of four US Navy SEALs who were ambushed by their enemies after being dropped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, Lone Survivor doesn’t shy away from the appalling ordeals of war. The four men displaying courage under fire, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Taylor Kitsch and Emile Hirsch, have the necessary comradeship to endure the living nightmare unfolding before them, and it is also an unrelenting experience for the audience. Actor/writer/director Peter Berg (Hancock, Patriots Day) demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail in his pursuit of realism, making several scenes pack an emotional wallop.
