‘‘The great chasm between a Gabba one- day wicket and a Shield wicket is enormous when you think that somewhere in between there is a Test wicket — Shield wickets should be more like Test wickets.

‘‘Maybe the solution could be, as they’ve talked about with (Shane) Watson, is to play 2nd XI ( state) cricket to get Jon some time out in the middle,’’ Shipperd said.

Holland, who has been restricted to just nine overs in the opening two Shield matches, said it was ‘‘nice to know’’ his efforts were being noticed.
