Jimmy should play on

Have Geelong fans seen Jimmy Bartel’s last game in Geelong? How should the Cats treat the champ in regards to playing on or bidding him farewell?

-

I think the decision has been made. Jimmy said his goodbyes on Saturday! Jimmy’s a champion on and off the field. I shed tears. Anne Tainton

He said goodbye by the way he walked slowly around the ground clapping his fans. I hope I am wrong as he deserves one more year. Rocky D’amelio

He should play one more season — this time without the beard. Wayne Weening

One more year. Daniel Caligiuri

He’s still got one more year. Wazza Cuthbert

Let Jimmy decide. Jenny Greaves

Let him stay for one more year. Tony Deppeler

Geelong doesn’t know how to treat its ageing players, just have to look at last year with SJ. Mark Jare

Time to retire. Adamo Petrella

Let him choose and then decide. Glenda Rice

Hope not. Chris Taft

Yes one more please. Jeanette Stonehouse

Definitely, for him to do a lap and thank the crowd at the end of game I think he has made his decision. What an absolute champion on and off the field he is. Joel McIvor

He has triggered the clause for a contract next year. It is ready for him to sign. It depends on whether he’s happy to play VFL footy if younger players go past him. It’s a decision he has to make on his own. Joe Oliveri

He still has a contract that allows him to play for one more year so don’t know why everyone at the club is seemingly throwing him under the bus. Anyone who watched Stevie J last night would be wondering “why?” Craig McElvaney

Craig, because they risked losing younger players (to other clubs) who are now regulars in the seniors. He’ll be here next season, this is just media hype. Paul Mana

Do not let Jimmy Bartel go he is a star! Aurica Luchian

All that can be decided after the season. We have finals to win. Steve Hobbs

There was no guarantee Stevie J would have played the way he has this year at Geelong. His season last year was ordinary. Geelong made the right call. As for Jimmy he has a contract for 2017, it’s up to him if he actually wants to play on, which I think he will. Frank Parrotta
