Less mince pie for your buck

FRUIT mince pies are a Christmas staple — but Woolworths has shrunk the size of its budget six-pack of the popular festive season fare.

Packs under its new Essentials private label are 300g, down from its former Homebrand 360g version.

The supermarket chain says it’s better value because of a lower regular cost of $1.50 compared with last year’s full shelf price of $2.

Rival Coles’ $1.50 own brand fruit mince pie six-packs are 360g. Aldi’s $1.49 option, on sale from next week, also weighs 360g.
