It’s glamour time for Miss World

APPLICATIO­NS are still open for the Geelong beauty pageant.

The 2017 season of Miss World Australia kicks off at Market Square next weekend.

A catwalk will be set up in the middle of the shopping centre where local glamour girls will strut their stuff in the first stage of the Victorian preliminar­y finals.

The women will be vying for a spot in the next round of the annual contest.

Tying in with the approachin­g Geelong Cup, entrants are set to walk the runway in the latest fashion trends inspired by the Spring Racing Carnival.

Six local women made it through the last local event, with Charlotte Goiris, Kim Fyfe, Nyadier Apech, Brooke Zuijdwijk, Abigail Bury, Brooke Cairns and Brit Fowler chosen to go through to the next state final.

In further proof that style and substance can coexist, this latest Miss World pageant series will also be linking in with its Beauty with a Purpose initiative.

Establishe­d more than 35 years ago, the theme underpins the selection criteria in which the judges will looks for women who embodies the Beauty with a Purpose spirit.

Organisers promote the concept as a way to provided platform for women to engage their communitie­s through goodwill while enriching the global perception of beauty.

The show starts at 1pm next Saturday. Entrants can apply via the Miss World Australia website.
