Fire engulfs train carriage

A V/LINE sprinter train has caught fire at Seymour railway station.

Four CFA units arrived at the station at 12.22pm to a “carriage full of black smoke”, authoritie­s have confirmed.

The fire, which engulfed one of the train’s carriages, took fire crews wearing breathing apparatus more than an hour to control.

An Ambulance Victoria spokespers­on said no passengers were injured.

Investigat­ions into the cause of the fire are continuing.
