DID when it comes to lifting his team, Patrick Dangerfield.

He only had six disposals in the second term but the number 35 will feature heavily in the highlights reel.

It started with a mark and goal from 25m out to level the scores, and a minute later he earned a 50m penalty after another strong mark on the wing before converting his opportunity.

That goal meant Dangerfield had kicked multiple majors for three straight weeks. But he wasn’t finished there.

The former Crow was again the catalyst as he marked and fed off to Duncan, but the bullet pass to Hawkins was not rewarded with a goal.

Soon after though, Dangerfield left Cats fans breathless when, after receiving a handball under pressure from Harry Taylor, he simply stopped in between two opponents and hit Tom Hawkins on his left boot. This time the power forward made no mistake.

A dashing run from the reigning Brownlow medallist resulted in him sending the ball forward with his left foot, and Daniel Menzel provided the finishing touches to set up Sam Menegola, who capitalised after two earlier misses.

It was on the back of this brilliance that Geelong went into the main break eight points up, and while Dangerfield was quiet in the third quarter, he would have more to say late in the game.

Robbie Gray was looking dangerous in the Power’s forward half and his two goals kept the visitors in the contest in the third quarter, but Duncan and Selwood were still getting the ball in their hands regularly.

A late goal to James Parsons gave Geelong the lead and its superior record in final quarters would have given it hope of back-to-back victories.

Blicavs, who finished the match with 19 disposals, 11 contested possessions and four tackles, kicked a remarkable banana goal from deep in the pocket to get the ball rolling in the last quarter, however, majors to Paddy Ryder and Jared Polec meant a hero was once again required to pull something out of nothing.

With one minute and 42 seconds left on the clock, Dangerfield stood up as only he can to deliver his team the four points with a stunning left foot goal among a swarm of Port Adelaide opponents only metres out.

It capped off a night where he made every touch count, and lit up Simonds Stadium like so many times before.
