SOMALIA, 1991: His uncle, Ibrahim, brings Khayre to Australia under refugee status as a three-year-old along with his family. NOVEMBER, 2005: Khayre, aged 18, charged with a raft of crimes including burglaries, car theft, drug offences.

APRIL, 2006: Burglaries, thefts. JUNE, 2006: Burglary, theft, unlawful assault. OCTOBER-NOVEMBER, 2006: Burglaries, thefts. DECEMBER, 2006: Burglary, theft.

JANUARY, 2007: Theft. 2009: Aged 21, Khayre is arrested with four other men and charged over a plot to attack and kill 500 military personnel at Holsworthy Army Barracks in Sydney. He is one of two men acquitted.

JUNE, 2011: Prohibited person carrying unregister­ed firearm and possessing ammunition. Theft of motor car.

JULY, 2011: Unlawful assault in jail. Jailed for six months. Fail to answer bail.

DECEMBER, 2011: Assault police, possess methylamph­etamine. JANUARY, 2012: Attempted robbery. Equipped to steal, criminal damage, theft, unlawful assault. FEBRUARY, 2012: Burglary.

MARCH, 2012: Thefts and criminal damage.

APRIL, 2012: Commits aggravated burglary armed with a knife in Dallas. Assaults a young woman and headbutts her father. OCTOBER, 2012: Sentenced to five years and six months in jail with minimum of three years over Dallas invasion.

FEBRUARY, 2014: Sets fire to Loddon Prison in Castlemain­e. One month concurrent sentence. Fined $217.80. FEBRUARY, 2015: Sets fire to Barwon Prison. Two months’ jail to serve concurrent­ly. Fines $1511. NOVEMBER, 2016: Released from prison on parole. MONDAY: Involved in siege at a Brighton serviced apartment complex. Holds an escort hostage and kills a man before shooting at police who return fire, killing him.
