Fun and rewards on offer at the RSL

-

BEING a member of a club offers so much more than a sense of belonging.

Club membership is about mateship and reward, it is about becoming a valued member of the community and a chance to share your stories and experiences with likeminded people.

The Geelong RSL in Belmont is open for anyone to join and its members are able to take advantage of a great number of benefits.

Club manager Chris Bennett said that while the club specialised in providing welfare services to serving and non-serving veterans and their families, its venue provided the perfect meeting place for everyone to enjoy, including the grandkids.

He said joining the Geelong RSL meant becoming part of a club that strongly supports the community.

“We offer mateship and we are a community club with a large portion of membership from the community and not military,” Mr Bennett said.

“Members enjoy discounts on every drink, meal and show, reduced rates for our venue hire, access to members’ activities such as lawn bowls and eligibility for our yearround, member-only promotions with prizes such as TVs and iPads.”

Social membership is open to those who would like to be a part of the Geelong RSL Club and cost just $10.

Social membership provides the same benefits as service and affiliate membership — which is open to exservicemen and women and their families — however the right to vote does not apply.

The Geelong RSL has an extensive bistro that can seat up to 300 people and caters for a range of dietary requirements.

Diners can enjoy lunch each day between noon and 2pm, and the bistro dining experience from 6-8pm is the perfect way to start off a night of entertainment at the RSL.

“As well as our regular meals, the RSL bistro also offers special meal deals on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays,” Mr Bennett said. “Each Sunday we have a $13 lunch carvery, Monday is $13 pie and pot, Tuesday is our meatlovers $13 steak night and Wednesday night is the $13 Geelong Pot and Parma deal.”

The kids are not forgotten either — $6 will get children a meal, drink and ice cream, with six different meals to choose from including chicken nuggets and chips, pasta and roast of the day.

There is also a fantastic children’s playground and space for the kids to run around in and be entertained throughout the afternoon.
