GEELONG star Patrick Dangerfield appears set to launch a fishing show.

The angling enthusiast has been shoring up a postfootball career as the next Rex Hunt, learning on the job from his mate and fishing mentor Aaron Habgood, of the Bellarine Peninsula-based Reds Fishing Adventures.

Habgood recently used his business Facebook page to tease a joint venture writing: “We had a great day on the water today and there are some great things happening for Patrick Dangerfield and myself with one of them starting in the near future, stay tuned.”

He then called for punters to guess what might be coming, with a TV show the firm favourite. When contacted by the Geelong Advertiser yesterday, sources close to Dangerfield referred to the upcoming venture as “the show” but said they could not elaborate at this time. More details would be available over the next week, they said. Habgood did not respond to repeated calls from the Geelong Advertiser last week A regular fishing television show wouldn’t be a stretch for the Geelong gun footballer, who recently started posting clips of his fishing adventures on his YouTube channel Reel Danger TV. Dangerfield, a passionate fisherman, imparts his tips on the best spots to find certain fish and how best to reel them in. Videos posted on social media by Habgood of his fishing adventures with Dangerfield typically feature edited footage from the Reds Fishing Adventures boat; with professional fisherman Habgood frequently poking gentle fun at the star footballer.

Dangerfield has also filmed a segment for Channel 10’s Escape Fishing with ET alongside Andrew Ettingshausen and featured on iFish with host Paul Worsteling in the past.

He also opened up about his love of angling in an interview with the Geelong Advertiser earlier this year confessing he “idolises” Rex Hunt and would eventually love to do something of that nature.

“I’ve fished all my life and it’s something I’ve always loved doing,” he said.

“For me, it’s always been a great escape and a great interest outside of footy.”
