Danger’s big baby plans
Star Cat Patty talks new baby and new boat
THE countdown is on for the arrival of baby Dangerfield, with Cats star Patrick and wife Mardi preparing to welcome their newborn child into the world “the natural way”.
But the pair are yet to settle on a name for bub.
“It’s true what they say about pregnant women and changing their minds because Mards cracked it the other day and said, ‘I don’t like the list (of names)’,” Dangerfield revealed to the Geelong Advertiser.
“I said to her, ‘Well, you came up with the list, so how could you not like it?’
“I think we’ll know the name when we see it (the baby).”
Dangerfield also revealed Mardi was planning “a natural birth” for their first born, which is due in less than three weeks.
“It’s not far away at all,” Dangerfield said. “All of a sudden, it’s two-and-a-half, three weeks away . . . it’s getting close.”
While the Cats midfielder has been shining on-field, it’s Mardi who has been the star of the show at home.
Dangerfield was full of praise for his wife, telling the Addy Mardi had been “wonderful” throughout the pregnancy.
“Mardi’s going really well. I must admit she hasn’t complained at all,” he said.
“I don’t know if that means the baby is going to be terrible and won’t sleep but she’s been an absolute star.”
Dangerfield said he was hoping the baby would follow in his footsteps and play footy.
“The great thing is now, no mattermatt if it’s a boy of girl, the opportunity is there to play footy,” he said.
“The pathways are there, which is wonderful because we haven’t had that for a long time in women’s sport and AFL.
“It’s a pretty exciting place to be.”
A diehard fishing enthusiast, Dangerfield said the new baby would be sharing his heart with his new love, the Danger Pro Series boat line, which will be on display at the Melbourne Boat Show.
“I’ve loved boats my entire life, and this year for the first time I’ve designed a boat which I’m pretty excited about,” he said.
Dangerfield will be taking the stage at the Melbourne Boat Show this Sunday, to talk boats and big catches.
The 2017 Melbourne Boat Show is on at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre at South Wharf today, tomorrow and Monday from 10am to 5pm each day.
