Flag heroes to boost Magpies

-

COLLINGWOOD star Jamie Elliott’s AFL return remains at least a fortnight away as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

The forward has started intensive rehabilitation after spending two weeks in a moon boot.

In better news for the Magpies, premiership duo Ben Reid and Tyson Goldsack could return for Saturday’s clash with Port Adelaide.

The Magpies have identified Port’s daring run and inside grunt as the bastions it needs to storm to secure a win at the MCG on Saturday.

It is a must-win match as they seek to climb from a losing 5-7 record to finals contention.

But midfielder Taylor Adams said they were confident they had identified the main threats the Power will bring to Melbourne.

“They’re playing some really, really good footy, Port,” Adams said. “I love watching them at the moment: offence and defence, and they’ve got some bulls in the middle.

“It’s going to be a contested ball game and they move the ball quickly and score an average of 110 points a game.

“Huge challenge for us inside midfield and also to defend their bounce off the backline.

“But we’ve been playing pretty good footy.

“It’s pretty simple for us. For the rest of the year, win games and we’ll play finals.

“This is a must-win game for us, as most of them are.”
