We’re living in crazy fear, says rob victim

-

DRYSDALE father John is a broken man.

Four weeks ago today thieves ransacked the father-of-two’s family home, taking with them prized classic cars, Geelong Cats memorabilia and his ability to feel safe.

“You have no idea the impact. The other night we were beside ourselves when there was a delivery of food my wife’s work organised for us that we didn’t know about at 1am,” he said.

“The dog started barking and my son saw the headlights shining down our paddock, raised us from our bedrooms, us all thinking they (burglars) were back.

“That’s how upset it’s made us, we’re living in this crazy fear that they’re coming back. This is what it’s done to us.

“We ticked all the boxes and did all the right things as we had our cars locked, garage locked and keys hidden, but they still came in and ripped everything apart.”

John said his family had been in Melbourne celebrating their son’s sporting achievements when the burglary took place.

They’re urging the community to keep an eye out for the cars, memorabilia, watches and other goods now hot on the black market.

He also urged people thinking of committing such crimes to realise just how damaging their actions could be.

“We’re also carrying this suspicion now that someone must have known we weren’t going to be home, that’s the most disturbing part,” he said.

“Thursday nights we’re normally home.

“How did they know we were going to be in Melbourne that night?”
