Cafe hits the sweet spot as kids have a cuppa

-

A GEELONG cafe has little sweet tooths sorted — it’s providing a high tea for children.

Catering to a gap in the market for kid-friendly cafe activities, Armageddon Cake’s Kids High Tea will treat youngsters to a baked degustation full of sugary goodness on Saturday.

It is the second year the CBD cafe has staged the event in the July school holidays … and some knowledgeable insiders have been brought in to help craft the eight-course cake banquet.

“Jacqui the owner has a couple of kids who helped with the selection,” baker Matt Whitter said.

“We’ve got a chocolate butterfly cake, which is more of a cupcake, there’s a classic frog in a pond, which we’re doing in cute little cups, and white chocolate raspberry mousse cups as well. That’s a really, really tasty spinoff of our salted caramel mousse cake.”

Sausage rolls will be on the menu as a savoury break from the sugar hit, and all cakes will be nut-free.

Kids can dress up if they want, and there are still some tickets available at $40 each, which includes a mixture of sweet and savoury desserts, a hot chocolate and entertainment.

Parents are also welcome, free if they are supervising, or they can buy a ticket to enjoy the degustation. See centralgeelong.com.au
