’Secret’ bar with a sneaky theme

- Pressed metal detailing lines the walls along with images and newspaper clippings from the 1920s, with vintage chairs and a coffee table made out of a claw foot bath. His brother, who owns a wrought iron business on Pakington St, is responsible for the i

level. The music is background, you won’t have a drunk idiot standing next to you pouring stuff on you. You can come with a group of friends, as a couple, whatever.”

Bar manager Damien Kos said the 18th Amendment Bar was designed to “fill a void” in Geelong’s food and wine scene.

“I want it to fill a niche. You’ve got Cellar Door and Union St for your glass of wine, Piano Bar for your singalongs, this is where you can go for a really nice cocktail with a nice, ambient atmosphere,” he said.

“Geelong doesn’t have too many cocktail bars.”

It officially opens to the public next week, and people can book by calling or visiting the Facebook page but there will also be about one third of the venue reserved for walk-ins.
