Grubbers look to stop Warriors run

- LACHIE YOUNG BFL

THIS week will see a cracking round of BFL matches, with the pick being the Ocean Grove and Modewarre clash at Ray Menzies Oval.

The Warriors have bounced back from their loss to Barwon Heads with three straight wins and sit second, while Ocean Grove will be looking to get back on the winners’ list after dropping a winnable game against week.

The Grubbers are third but have Torquay breathing down their necks, and with a double chance on the line, Elyse Howard’s side knows only a victory will do.

The Tigers should have a comfortable win against Newcomb and will take Ocean Grove’s spot should they slip up, but Modewarre is all but guaranteed a place in the top three.

Ladder Portarlington leader last Geelong Amateur hosts Barwon Heads, who need the four points to stay inside the top five.

The Seagulls lead Port- arlington on percentage, and with the Demons facing Anglesea at home there is every chance they could sneak into the five with a win.

The final match should also be a riveting affair when Queenscliff goes to Drysdale.

Both teams have two wins for the year and will be desperate to add to their tally.

The Hawks also play Newcomb next week, giving it a genuine chance to aim for back-to-back wins in the next fortnight.
