MY FEARS FOR JOEL

- STEPHANIE AZZOPARDI

BRIT Davis, girlfriend of courageous Cats skipper Joel Selwood, frequently attends games with her heart in her mouth.

In the past two months alone the fearless Geelong skipper has been knocked out, concussed and suffered a deep gash to the head that left him with blood pouring down his face.

So if Cats fans feel nervous for Selwood every time he takes to the field these days, you can bet Ms Davis feels even worse.

The schoolteacher told the Geelong Advertiser she made sure she watched all Selwood’s games, and would be at Etihad when the Cats face Carlton tomorrow night.

“I have my heart in my mouth a lot of the time,” she said.

“But I know he’s tough, and has the best people looking after him.

“I’ve always gone for the Cats.

“Now with Joel, I live and breathe it with him.”

After the Sydney game next Friday, Ms Davis and Selwood will head straight back to Geelong to pour their energy into a worthy, charitable cause.

Ms Davis is an ambassador for The Salvation Army’s Walking Home event on August 5.

The fundraiser sees participants walk as far as from Queenscliff to Geelong to raise money and awareness for the region’s homeless.

Ms Davis said homelessness, particularly youth homelessness, was something she was passionate about.
