SCOTT IN A PICKLE
Ham-fisted Harry has coach in two minds
GEELONG coach Chris Scott joked Harry Taylor could continue playing with ham in his sock after he booted five goals last week — before realising how silly an idea that was.
“If that’s what did it (helped him kick five goals), I’m happy for him to play with ham in his sock, yeah,” Scott said before adding: “Can I just take that back?
“I’d prefer he didn’t play with ham in his sock. “But I don’t really care.” The premiership coach said he found it hard to believe Taylor took a slice of ham from the team hotel in Adelaide and played with it in his sock in a premeditated prank before shaking rival Josh Jenkins’ hand with it post-match.
The Crows forward was in doubt to play after suffering a bout of food poisoning from ham earlier in the week.
“I found it a little bit hard to believe, to be honest,” Scott said of the prank.
“But once it was established that it actually happened, I still found it hard to believe.
“We do run a football team, a program and an organisation that does respect the individual.
“If I were to pass comment on the quality of the gag, it might be a slightly different argument — Patty probably fits into that category as well.”
But Scott said that he wanted his players to embrace being themselves.
