GEELONG fashion student Courtney Lemke has taken out an award at the 2018 Australasi­an Young Designer Wool Awards.

The second-year Gordon student claimed top honour in the corporate wear category for her work (pictured right) taking home a $500 prize that she plans to put towards a new sewing machine and eye-catching fabric for her third-year collection.

This year’s Australasi­an Young Designer Wool Awards theme was railway inspired, with students drawing inspiratio­n from subways and trains.

“This competitio­n ... made us work to deadlines and (push) that little bit further to make sure our designs are wearable, stand out and are fabulous,” Courtney said.
