Enright selection sets Seagull spirits soaring

- DAMIEN RACTLIFFE

GEELONG great Corey Enright will play for Barwon Heads in Sunday’s first semifinal against Modewarre in a massive boost to the Seagulls’ flag hopes.

The triple premiership player and dual best-andfairest has played six games this season and spent time forward, kicking two goals, when the Seagulls last met the Warriors in Round 12.

Playing-coach Mitch Herbison said Enright’s contribution had been priceless.

“Obviously with the Geelong game being on the Saturday, he’s available, so he’ll come in to the team,” Herbison said.

“He’s been fantastic for us. He’s played a number of roles, both back and forward. His experience and wisdom he’s shared with the boys has been fantastic and it’s really hard to put a value on it. It’s been fantastic having him around.

“He’s probably the only change that’s confirmed at this stage. We’ve obviously got the later game, so there’s a few decisions to be made. There’s a couple facing fitness tests (last night) as well so we’ll make decisions based on how they go.”

Herbison said his side’s first half against Geelong Amateur in last weekend’s qualifying final showcased premiership-winning football, but the second half left a little to be desired.

“I think the footy we played, particularly in the first half, was a good standard of footy that’s going to hold up in finals. We’ve probably just got to be a little bit more consistent,” he said.

Herbison said the Round 12 loss to Modewarre plus the Warriors’ elimination final against Ocean Grove would be reviewed to help discover areas his side could expose. SAT, AUGUST 26 SUN, AUGUST 27 SAT, SEPTEMBER 2 SAT, SEPTEMBER 9
