Cafes, bakers and doughnut specialist­s are offering their own spins on the humble doughnut, aimed at hitting Geelong residents’ sweet spot.

We’ve unearthed five of the best.

DONUT KING

DONUT King is a staple of many Geelong shopping centres and is ideal for a mid-shopping trip pick me up.

Whether it’s kids or a kid-at-heart after a treat, the menu caters for doughnut lovers of all ages.

Doughnuts range from fun, including those in the shape of dinosaurs and crocodiles, to the decadent, such as a range inspired by the royal family.

THIS Moolap cafe is making its mark with its unique range of doughnuts.

7-ELEVEN

WHILE a convenienc­e store may not be the obvious choice for a doughnut lover to pick something up, 7-Eleven is host to one of the world’s most loved doughnut brands.

The group of stores around Geelong all stock a range of Krispy Kreme Donuts, with their classic offerings serving as a perfect accompanim­ent to 7-Eleven’s $1 coffee.

UNCLE DONUT

GEELONG’S newest dedicated doughnut haunt, is already making its mark, with doughnuts often selling out before closing time.

Keen to keep up with the latest doughnut trends, the menu rotates monthly.
