Ocean Grove man to plead guilty to fatal punch
AN Ocean Grove thug who killed a man who refused to shake his hand is now facing 20 years behind bars.
In another senseless coward punch killing Jaiden Walker, 22, died after being hit by Richard Vincec during a night out earlier this year.
Vincec later told police he lashed out after Mr Walker refused to shake his hand.
He later messaged a friend of Mr Walker’s saying: “Sorry about your friend. All I wanted was a handshake.”
Vincec waived his right to a committal hearing and appeared at the Supreme Court yesterday where it was indicated he would plead guilty to a single count of manslaughter.
He remains on bail but is facing a maximum jail term of 20 years when he is finally sentenced for the senseless crime.
Vincec, 26, had been out with friends on May 6 before the fatal attack on Mr Walker.
He had left his long-term partner and their three young children at home to party with friends at the Cherry Bar on ACDC lane.
There, police said he offered one friend drugs and “hooked up” with another woman.
The couple were kicked out of the bar and he begged her to go to a motel room with him.
She refused and Vincec started farewelling his friends by shaking their hands.
It is understood Mr Walker refused to shake his hand prompting Vincec to warn: “Shake me hand Jaiden, shake me hand c---.”
After Mr Walker continued to refuse, Vincec lashed out at him.
The 22-year-old fell to the ground with his head making a “deafening cracking sound” when it struck the pavement.
Vincec then fled the scene, leaving his victim for dead.
Vincec will formally plead guilty to the charge next week before a pre sentence hearing in October.
