Tarr may miss his second decider

- ALEX OATES GDFL GRAND FINAL

JUSTIN Tarr shapes as the hard luck story of the GDFL grand final — for the second time in his career — as he bids to force his way back into the Bell Post Hill line-up.

Panthers captain Cam Addie admitted that Tarr was no guarantee to return for the clash against Inverleigh, having overcome a knee injury.

“I’m not too sure,” Addie said of Tarr’s chances of playing. “He’s been training pretty hard and putting his hand up. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

“He’s had a bit of an upand-down season with injuries. All he can do is train, put his hand up, and the coaches will take care of the rest, I guess.”

Tarr, who missed out on the 2010 premiership due to injury, remains only an outside chance to play, despite reaching full fitness.

“I think he’s feeling pretty well,” Addie said.

“He trained pretty hard on Saturday and he’s been doing all the recovery as well.

“All he can do is train hard … it’s out of his hands now.”

Addie hinted that the Panthers were unlikely to make any changes from the team that downed Inverleigh by one-point in the second semifinal.

“Historically, we don’t change a winning team,” Addie said.

“We had Will Kelly (come in for the grand final) last year because he pulled out sick for one game.

“But it is hard to change a winning team.”

A handful of players will put their hands up for selection, but none are guaranteed a spot.

“You’ve got Matt Kelly, who’s played all year, and then he’s played the twos (reserves) finals, Jordan Flaccavento as well,” Addie said.

“But Tarry’s the one to put his big foot forward.”
