I’M a little bit lost for words.
We produced such a good four-quarter effort and against such a good side — everyone knows that — so to play that way, it gives everyone a lot of confidence going into next week.
It’s obviously been a pretty big couple of weeks for me.
I found out Tuesday that they were going to pick me and it was nice to know earlier in the week. Obviously it was pretty disappointing last week to miss out and everything that came with that — and then the loss to Richmond as well.
It was disappointing, but it was nice this week for the coaches to say, ‘We probably could have played you’.
I don’t think, playing-wise, I’ve had a worse couple of weeks in footy, to be honest.
It’s my first season in six years that I’ve been ready for finals. Last year I was pretty sore going in, so I was finally ready. There was a lot of media about missing out and my phone kept going off every 10 minutes, and there were other things in the background too, which were disappointing.
It’s probably why I cramped up in the third quarter and early in the game — I haven’t slept that well the past two weeks, so to get through and win is unbelievable.
We structured up so well last night and I thought our coaching staff put a great plan in place. Credit to the boys for executing it, we were elite around the ball and our defenders held up incredibly well all night. I feel like we had such great chemistry up forward too — and set up as planned.
I’ll definitely sleep easier this week, I’m just excited now heading into the prelim. We made a prelim last year and it didn’t quite play out as we would have liked, but we’ve earnt that opportunity again.
I didn’t play in the prelim last year, so it’s taken me six years to get there.
We always stack up pretty well against the Crows, but they’re the best side in the competition so it’s going to be a challenge.
