Holiday homes hit before the heat

BURGLARY RESIDENTIA­L In Newtown power tools were stolen from a garage and computers and jewellery were stolen from homes. In Portarling­ton, holiday homes and other houses had TVs and computers taken, while, in Ocean Grove, a garage, shed and house were targeted for TVs and computers. Thieves stole audio equipment, jewellery and computers from homes in Leopold.

Tools were stolen from a house under constructi­on in Torquay and building materials were taken from another home constructi­on site in St Leonards.

In Armstrong Creek, homes had cash, prescripti­on drugs and computers stolen. Power tools were taken from sheds in Belmont, while, in North Geelong, a TV was taken from a motel and electrical goods and alcohol were taken from homes. BURGLARY (OTHER) In Breakwater, thieves stole power tools and computers from a factory. Computers were also taken from a financial institutio­n, and a retailer was also targeted. Thieves also hit a department store and health clinic in Belmont; building tools were taken from constructi­on sites in Geelong and Leopold; and cash was stolen from Mt Duneed, Corio and a sports facility in Apollo Bay.

In Moolap a safe was tampered with at a restaurant; alcohol was stolen from a supermarke­t in Newcomb; and cash was taken from a factory in South Geelong, a car yard in North Geelong and a retailer in Grovedale. THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE A vehicle stolen in Geelong was found in Breakwater. A second car was found in Norlane. A vehicle stolen from Corio was found nearby; and cars taken from North Geelong and Marshall were also recovered in Corio. A vehicle taken from Portarling­ton was found in Indented Head. Another car was found in Portarling­ton. THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE Number plates were stolen from carparks in Bell Post Hill, Belmont and beach access in Clifton Springs, and from cars parked in the street at Geelong, Newtown, Wallington and Geelong West as well as at a house in Norlane.

Thieves stole power tools from vehicles in Corio, handbags/wallets from Lara, and cash and credit cards from Newcomb, Newtown, Whittingto­n and Thomson. PROPERTY DAMAGE Suburbs affected included Corio (graffiti, damage to doors, house contents, windows) and Geelong (damage to window/door at licensed premises, a motel, a retailer, a parked vehicle, a restaurant). Vandals damaged doors and windows at a school and vehicles in car ports, at flats and in the street in Norlane, Belmont and Bell Park.
