THIS FAN’S GOT YOUR BACK
FACED with the opportunity to fleece diehard Cats fans and make a fortune, Highton’s Andrea Sutcliffe, pictured, decided to do the right thing.
Ms Sutcliffe accidentally bought 10 tickets instead of five to Friday night’s preliminary final between Adelaide and Geelong, leaving her $925 out of pocket.
Instead of raising the price and scalping fans, she listed the seats for sale at face value — with one catch.
“I wanted them to go to disappointed Cats fans instead of Crows supporters,” she said. “We need more Cats supporters to attend.”
She and her friend made an initial buy that timed out, leading them to believe they did not get the tickets.
On attempting to buy the second lot of five tickets, she realised she had spent $1850.
“It (scalping) didn’t cross our mind for a second,” Ms Sutcliffe said.
