Got room for my bus?

- CHAD VAN ESTROP

JAN JUC resident Bryce Spratling is on the lookout for a Surf Coast patch of paradise to park his home.

In response to the difficulty associated with home ownership, Mr Spratling has spent recent months transforming a 1989 Hino bus into a humble abode.

Now, he’s on the hunt for a space to park the 12-metre long bus somewhere between Torquay and Aireys Inlet, no more than 20 minutes inland.

“I’ve lived in some quirky places but haven’t done anything like this before,” the former Byron Bay resident said.

The 29-year-old says he will be self sufficient while living in the bus, complete with solar power and plumbing, and is willing to pay rent or offer his carpentry skills in return for the right patch of land.

“I like the idea of being able to shift my home and (housing) affordability is an issue at the moment.”

Mr Spratling plans to stay put in the right location for up to 18 months and says space on a large block or farm would be ideal.

“I’d like to save for my own block while I’m living in this bus then take it with me when I can buy my own place.”

A potential landlord will have about a month to set up for Mr Spratling’s arrival as he plans to drive the bus from Byron Bay to the Surf Coast in mid-October.

Potential landlords can contact Mr Spratling on 0401 915 686.
