Wandana lots in big demand

- TESSA HAYWARD

LOCAL buyers are flocking to a new land estate in Wandana Heights for “blockbuster views”.

The sales office at the Villawood Properties development Wandana officially opened on Saturday and land will start selling on October 28.

Villawood chief executive Rory Costelloe said there was a constant stream of people visiting the site at the weekend.

“They were nearly all locals and predominantly people who live close by, some are upsizing and some are downsizing,” Mr Costelloe said.

There were 52 scheduled appointments on the weekend plus 40 walk-ins.

Mr Costelloe said lot 117 had the most interest with about 14 people putting a first preference on it.

He said a table of preferen- ces was being organised with buyers’ first, second and third preferences.

“We have 85 preferences and there are 53 blocks to be released in the first two stages ... there are only four blocks someone hasn’t put a preference on,” he said.

“I think we will auction the top three blocks as they are just so sought after.”

Mr Costelloe said lot 117 was popular because it had “blockbuster views”, was on 701sq m of land and could not be built out. He said a lot of buyers were attracted to the estate because they lived in the area and had known the views for such a long time, including two parties as it was where they got engaged more than 20 years ago.

Some of the smaller blocks without a view will be priced in the low-$200,000s, while the bigger blocks with views could be in the $500,000s.
