Stroke support makes strides
A LOCAL reality TV star will be join a group of people walking from Geelong to the Bellarine in support of the region’s Stroke Support Centre today.
The newest Real Housewives of Melbourne star Sally Bloomfield, from Barwon Heads, is one of five people taking part in the first Will2Walk event.
She will be joined by her cousin Claire Davison Greig, a volunteer at the Stroke Support Centre, whose determination to tackle the 25km from Geelong to Terindah Estate is driven by personal experience.
“When I was 12 my mum suffered a life-threatening stroke that saw her spend over 12 months in hospital, and left her without her speech and completely paralysed down one side of her body,” Ms Davison Greig said.
“Mum is now 75 and is the most inspiring and courageous woman on the planet, battling through all the difficulties of life but never with a complaint.
“I have dedicated the last four years to raising funds and awareness of stroke within our community. My dream was always to create a designated Stroke Support Centre to help stroke survivors and their families post clinical care.”
The walk will conclude at Terindah Estate where about 80 people will enjoy a fundraising lunch and auction complete with live entertainment.
