Master Builders Association of Victoria honours for Geelong building company
A LOCAL builder has scooped up two awards at the Master Builders Association of Victoria’s Excellence in Housing Awards.
Q by Malishev won Best Display Home $425,000$500,000 and Best Custom Home $400,000-$500,000.
Malishev senior designer Ian Sutherland said that when you put your heart and soul into these things and to be recognised by your peers as being the best it was quite humbling.
“It is really nice to get this feedback,” Mr Sutherland said.
The award for Best Display Home $425,000-$500,000 was for the Viridian display home in Torquay.
Mr Sutherland said the house was designed to suit smaller blocks with the backyard in the centre of the house rather than traditionally at the rear.
“That way we are able to utilise the full width of the block,” he said.
Judges commented that the standout feature of this singlestorey house involved the three distinct zones offered, making this a perfect home for a busy modern family to live and entertain in.
The Best Custom Home $400,000-$500,000 award was for a project Q by Malishev completed in Clifton Springs.
Mr Sutherland said the house was for a retired couple that wanted a lifestyle home.
“It has beautiful views over the bay and extended family needed to be catered for with multiple living areas and bedrooms,” he said.
“It is a large, open, spacious and very contemporary house that also has a lift in it.”
Judges said the house sat perfectly on an odd-shaped corner site.
Master Builders chief executive Radley de Silva said it was an honour to acknowledge the quality work, dedication and craftsmanship of all the winners.
