CALL TO DISCOVER BIBLICAL TRUTH ON MARRIAGE VOTE

-

PASTOR Frank Lowry’s faithful stand for biblical truth is to be commended. (GA 20/10).

Putting it plainly, the Christian has but one text book, one certain standard of truth.

It is the Bible, the Holy Scriptures, the Word of God.

Whether the issue is abortion, the redefinition of marriage or euthanasia, the principles of God’s word are our ultimate point of reference. For here is absolute truth.

Consensus, expert opinion and government legislation are never the final word.

Just prior to his death, Jesus Christ in prayer to God his Father, said, “Your word is truth.” (Gospel of John, chapter 17 verse 17.)

Pastor Lowry’s reference to the “certainties of the Bible” is in keeping with this statement of Jesus concerning the true nature of God’s word.

That some who lay claim to the name “Christian” are voting “Yes” in the current survey, fails the test of the word of Christ and the Apostle Paul in the New Testament.

And this, ultimately, is the issue. What does God say?

I ask any fair-minded person who can discern truth from error in the current debate — and who wants to know what the Bible says — to carefully consider three New Testament passages and then answer whether “Yes” is a response that is consistent with the will of God expressed in Scripture.

They are found in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 19 verses 3 to 6, Paul’s Letter to the Romans chapter 1 verses 21 to 32, and Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians chapter 6 verses 9 to11.

For those who haven’t got a Bible, it’s all there on the internet. (Rev) John Cromarty, Manifold Heights
