Premier can add to Sebastopol’s woes

- MATT FLAPPER PREMIER DIVISION

REIGNING premier Queenscliff will take to the Midland Highway wanting to return a better performance than its last road trip to the Ballarat-based Sebastopol.

A win for the Coutas would leave the dangerous Sebastopol with just one win from four starts.

Queenscliff coach Anthony Donohue said his side would wel- come back Nick Tait, playing three for Luke Wayth, while he would also rely on position players such as Di Roberts, Raymond Butler, Timmy Smith and Dennis Arthur to continue their form from last week’s win against City of Geelong.

Donohue said the Sebastopol match would be a great test for the visitors.

“We have won two home games but we need to improve on the road,” he said. “Sebastopol will always be around the top four at the end of the season, so this will be a good test for us.”

For Sebastopol, however, winning at home will be vital in gaining some much needed points.

Sebastopol’s Round 1 clean sweep win over City of Geelong signalled its intentions, but losses to Lara and Bareena has bowls coordinator Rob Baker concerned going into the Round 4 clash.

“We must win as many home games as possible, they’re crucial this season, especially to keep us away from the bottom of the ladder,” Baker said.

Sebastopol has the cattle to produce the win and will be looking to skippers Glenn Sargent and Baker to lead the way.

Simon Cornock has returned to the Burra again this season and will be looking for his second win while greenkeeper Scott Roberts will do everything he can to prepare the surface to Sebastopol’s liking.
