Injured Open House misses 10 months

-

RISING star Open House will miss at least the next 10 months through injury.

The Kath Durden-trained speedster injured herself in her win at Cranbourne earlier this month and has now been spelled.

A disappointed Durden said the four-year-old mare, who has won three of her first four starts, would miss at least six months.

“She pulled up sore after her last run and she is spelling,” Durden said.

“She X-rayed up OK and everything like that. She just needs six months off.

“She won’t get back to the races for 10 months really or something. She has to have six months off minimum and then by the time you get them back it’ll be 10 months minimum.”

Open House was a stunning win- ner on debut, breaking her maiden at $91.

She then stepped up to benchmark 64 company and ran well in a hot form race at Sandown.

The Onemorenomore mare then returned from a spell in late September, winning her next two starts.

The news, however, isn’t all bad at the Durden stable.

Star jumper Wells will come back into work next week as prepa- rations start for his next jumping campaign.

“He will do a month’s work and then go out again and then come back in. He will start up for the season [after that],” Durden said.

“He has put on weight and all that sort of thing, so he is looking great.”

Durden said the 10-year-old veteran was showing no signs of wanting to retire.
