Reds up pressure on Bilic

- BOB BENSCH

LIVERPOOL heaped more misery on under-fire West Ham boss Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium while Burnley’s strong away form continued in the Premier League.

Mohamed Saleh scored twice in a 4-1 Liverpool win that moved it back up to sixth after Burnley had overtaken it earlier by defeating Southampton 1-0.

“We started the game very well and scored in the beginning, which helped us to make the game easy,” Saleh told BT Sport.

“It’s a good result in the end and we have to carry on.”

Saleh and Joel Matip scored three minutes apart to put Liverpool 2-0 up at halftime.

Manuel Lanzini gave the Hammers hope after the restart but Alex OxladeChamberlain struck back 57 seconds later and Salah’s second finished them off.

West Ham has won two of 11 and fell to 17th, a point above the relegation places.

Burnley’s win at Southampton gave it 10 points from six away games after winning seven from 19 all of last season.

Sam Vokes snatched all three points for the Clarets by heading home Johann Berg Gudmonsson’s cross in the 81st minute.

“Sam Vokes’s header was a fantastic finish,” manager Sean Dyche said.

“I am delighted to be where we are, but there are a lot of challenges coming our way.”

Promoted Brighton and Huddersfield are in the top half of the table after 1-0 wins.

Glenn Murray’s first-half goal lifted Brighton past Swansea and up to eighth. Swansea fell into the bottom three.

Huddersfield is 10th after holding on to win at West Brom with 10 men.

Rajiv van La Parra curled a shot from outside the area into the top corner before halftime to give the Terriers the lead.

They then overcame Christopher Schindler’s sending off in the 57th minute to extend West Brom’s winless league run to nine.

“When we got the red card we had to play with 10 men for 30 minutes,” van La Parra said.

“They were pressing us with the long ball, but we did a great job at a man down. I think we deserved the win.”

Bournemouth climbed out of the relegation zone with its win at Newcastle, courtesy of Steve Cook’s stoppage-time header.

Peter Crouch came off the bench to earn Stoke a 2-2 home draw with Leicester.

Leicester’s Vicente Iborra and Riyad Mahrez sandwiched goals around a score from Xherdan Shaqiri before Crouch headed home.
