ANDREWS IS WRONG ON INJECTING ROOMS ISSUE

-

I AM 76 years old.

As I am writing this, my heart is heavy, as never before have we had a Premier who so blatantly pushed his own agenda at the expense of the electorate.

It beggars belief that Daniel Andrews is leading the pack again. Not only did he — I believe — underhandedly and hurriedly introduced the merciless killing issue while the YES and NO vote saga was still raging; he and others — without any shame — blatantly and emotionally used their loved ones’ deaths to justify their political intentions.

Will my friendly family doctor assist to become my murderer? Are there perhaps already dozens of willing Dr Deaths floating around Richmond?

The announcement of the Premier’s turnaround, now favouring safe injecting rooms, takes the cake, as the possession of, use and distribution of heroin is illegal in this state. I cannot believe that the whole of Victoria Police, does not get up and scream blue murder on this one.

If I light up weed in front of any police station, I get run in. But if I am already high on ice and choose to walk in to avail myself of Mr Andrews’s ‘service providing injecting rooms’, I get the VIP treatment?

We are told the deaths due to overdoses have increased.

Those choosing to ingest drugs, do so with their eyes open to the possible consequences.

They willingly choose the risk to die. Why not help them by giving in to their wish?

Does the whole of the population have to be put at risk for the sake of the minority of people who are deadset on dying?

Our various levels of government — federal, state and local — always promote life that is to be lived to the full, until one’s final breath. What pride is there to be able to say that Victoria is the first state to offer being killed by choice? Henk, Geelong
