Cars broken into at the weekend

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

THERE were about 50 incidents over a weekend, with two separate spates identified.

Twelve of the incidents happened overnight Saturday when offenders entered the multi-level Civic Car Park at 57 Little Malop St, Geelong, and broke into or tried to break into vehicles.

Seven incidents happened overnight Sunday around Highton where windows were smashed.

In other thefts, thieves also removed numberplat­es from 15 vehicles parked in driveways and in the street.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

VEHICLES were stolen from Corio, with other multiple incidents in Belmont, Lara, Colac and Geelong South.

Most vehicles were stolen from residences, garages, driveways and residentia­l streets at night.

Of the 15 vehicles recovered, most were found in the Geelong area, with others located in Point Cook, Narre Warren and Balliang.

BURGLARY RESIDENTIA­L

THIEVES were active in Belmont (around Kidman Ave, Waurnvale Drive, and Highmont Drive), Lara, Leopold, Whittingto­n, Corio and Geelong West.

Burglaries in Lara, Connewarre and Geelong were linked to additional offences where vehicles were also stolen.

Seven incidents involved entry via unlocked doors/ windows, with another five being attempts only.

BURGLARY (OTHER)

BURGLARS struck multiple times in Bell Park and Belmont.

Incidents reported included burglaries from pharmacies (three) and a building site and retail store in Geelong; a business office at a factory in Bell Park; and a medical centre in Belmont.

Other incidents were at a department store in Corio, at parkland in Anakie and at a service station in Point Lonsdale.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

GRAFFITI and damage to property and vehicles were reported in Waurn Ponds, Grovedale and Belmont.

Also damaged across the region were eight vehicles and seven house windows. There were eight reports of graffiti.

Houses were targeted in Corio, Belmont, Grovedale and Ocean Grove, with public transport or other vehicles hit 14 times, including seven incidents in the Waurn Ponds Railway Station carpark.
