Sarah’s star shone brightly, says heartbroken father

-

A TEENAGE Bellarine Peninsula musician is being remembered as a super talent who was bound for stardom after the 16-yearold was killed in a car crash in the Otways.

Sarah Crimmins from Barwon Heads had recently appeared on stage at the Queenscliff Brewhouse playing the guitar and singing before the weekend’s crash.

Her father, Graham Crimmins, said his beloved daughter, a student at Bellarine Secondary College, was just starting to blossom.

“About 18 months ago she came to me and asked if she could borrow my guitar and that she wanted to learn how to play,” Mr Crimmins said.

“I showed her a couple of chords and about three weeks later I walked past her door and couldn’t believe it was her playing.

“Last Saturday I put this photo on here announcing a star is born. Now I have to say that they took my star away from us.

“There will be forever an emptiness in my heart.”

Victoria Police’s Major Collision Investigation Unit said a Nissan 4WD was travelling along Frys Rd when the vehicle rolled a number of times, just after 2.30pm on Saturday.

Sarah, who was a passenger in the back, died at the scene while her sister Louise and a 20-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.

Mr Crimmins said Sarah and her sister had been inseparable and that Louise had fought to save Sarah’s life at the scene of the crash until paramedics arrived.

“I want people to know how courageous she was.”

Others took to social media to pay their respects.

Garry Broomfield said: “Sarah had super talent and was bound to be a star, a beautiful girl at the start of her life taken from us.”

A police investigation is currently under way to determine the details surrounding the crash.
