Tests ditched after F1 crime
McLaren and Pirelli ditched tests scheduled for this week and today in the wake of a series of attempted armed robberies against F1 teams at Sao Paulo this weekend.
Mercedes, Williams and Sauber team members were either robbed at gunpoint or had close escapes at the Grand Prix weekend.
McLaren said they felt the risk was not worth running the testing after Mercedes team members had been left shaken. “We have jointly decided with Pirelli to cancel this week’s tyre test at Interlagos,” McLaren said on Twitter.
