Diversitat’s vocational training breaks records
MORE Geelong students are graduating from high school with an apprenticeship and traineeship qualification.
Diversitat Training’s School-based Apprenticeship and Traineeship and Vocational Educational and Training in School programs have recorded the highest completion rates since their inception.
Ninety-nine SbAT students from 42 schools in Geelong, Colac, Werribee and Manor Lakes were enrolled this year, while 70 students from Covenant College, Western Heights and Grovedale took part in the VETiS program.
The programs recorded a 95 per cent completion rate — up from 89 per cent last year. The program’s early childhood education and care program recorded a 93 per cent completion rate with seven students offered casual or part-time work next year, and four horticulture students offered apprenticeships with an overall completion rate of 94 per cent.
SbAT certificate II in screen and media student Samantha Connell said access to amenities through Diversitat and The Pulse provided a great pathway to tertiary education.
“This course has given me the opportunity to pursue further education at a university level, which would not be available to me otherwise,” Ms Connell said.
“Next year I am studying a bachelor of creative arts, majoring in film and television production at JMC Academy in Melbourne.”
