Return to Eden

-

A GEELONG business will be at the centre of a new fishing and boating show airing on Foxtel next year.

Filming for Edencraft TV, a 13-episode series, began on Sunday.

Edencraft Boats, which now operates from a purpose-built factory in Moolap, was bought by locals Grant and Kerri Maher in May last year.

Business manager Josie Maher said the family-run business was approached by a production company about the opportunity about four months ago.

The show will include a two-to - three-minute clip in the weekly, 30-minute episodes, tracking the boat-building progress and providing exposure for the region.

“One of our main things we want to show is how amazing Geelong is for fishing and boating,” Ms Maher said. “It will really focus on the customers and their lifestyle and each episode will have different people in it.”

Local fishing identity Aaron Habgood, the brand’s ambassador, will be the show’s resident fishing expert, sharing tips and tricks.

Geelong MasterChef alumnus Sam Goodwin, who is Habgood’s housemate, will also feature in a few episodes, showing the best ways to cook different catches.

There may even be an appearance by Geelong AFL star Patrick Dangerfield.

“In one episode, three players from Geelong, the Western Bulldogs, Richmond, will fish out of different boats as part of a competition,” Ms Maher said.

“Another episode which will be a good one for Edencraft fans will take people back to Eden, which is where the business first started, and look at its history.”

The bulk of filming will be done between January and Easter and the show will premiere on June 13.
