We take a look at some of the footballers who should consider entering the Steigen Spectacular longest kick competition.

JORDAN ERSKINE (Anglesea)

The former Port Adelaide SANFL and Grovedale forward has moved to Anglesea in the off-season and while he was the marquee signing at the Roos, the $2000 prize money would be a handy Christmas bonus.

JARROD GARTH (Bell Park)

Was rookie-listed at Geelong and edged out Erskine in the battle to play full-forward in the GFL interleague side this year. Solidly built through the legs, which helped him to 92 goals in 2017 — several which came from long range.

DALE CARSON (Anglesea)

One of the best swingmen in country football, he’d kicked 43 goals from 11 games this year before injury abruptly ended his season. Could still match it with the younger competitors and would be a nice way to finish what was ultimately a frustrating year.

MITCH DAY (Geelong Amateur)

The Lara junior has tormented BFL defenders for years at Geelong Ammos and after filling his trophy cabinet with an Ash Medal, leading goalkicker awards and premierships, this would be a nice little addition.

JAK KENNEDY-HUNT (Inverleigh)

Took the GDFL by storm in his first year with Inverleigh and keen observers noted that his ability to roost a ball from outside 50m helped the Hawks on numerous occasions. Not a fan of the spotlight like some of the others but a genuine chance if he turns up.

SAM JACKA (Thomson)

The Thomson junior product has stayed loyal to the Tigers over the years and has never been afraid to bomb one long — either kicking out from fullback or shooting for goal from inside the centre square, which he has done successfully a number of times.
