Fears over council cuts

THE City of Greater Geelong’s Mayor Bruce Harwood said discussions have begun on the viability and suitability of 126 services before the 2018-19 budget.

Pity they didn’t cut funding to the biggest waste of millions of dollars ever in Malop and Little Malop streets.

Paul

So what are the services that are going, as we hardly get any at Little River? Road maintenance yearly? Probably the elderly and frail will be on the hit list.

Christine

#sigh Geelong consists of more than just ratepayers. Perhaps the mayor doesn’t know that.

Maura Fitzgerald

Not enough council services and too much wasted dollars on councillors.

Jan Vetma

I think aged services — HACC will go down the same path as Disability Services, which was axed from council provided services once NDIS came.

Joanne Suseto

Libraries? Youth services? Community development? Children’s services? Aged Care? Diversity and Equity?

Yep … let’s shaft all the people services and focus solely on the old fashioned 3 R’s - Roads rates, rubbish.

Beth Davidson

Nah. More like junkets for councillors and screw the ratepayers.

Renia Elzunia

Great. Higher rates and less services. I’d be maybe look into where’s the money’s spent and accountability first.

Dean John

The Geelong council disgusts me. As someone stated above, they have already shafted the most vulnerable sector of society. Their priorities are obscene.

Lisa Andretti

How about hiring someone to revamp the road traffic infrastructure in this town ... it’s s---house.
