Thieves targeting houses, vehicles
THERE were multiple incidents of burglary in Corio, Norlane and Colac this week.
The east of the city was also targeted, with East Geelong, Whittington, Newcomb and Leopold reporting burglaries.
All the incidents involved residential houses, apart from a few involving garages and sheds.
Items taken included jewellery, cash, computer equipment, handbags and power tools. INCIDENTS occurred in Corio, Geelong, North Geelong, Moolap and Newtown.
Items stolen included cash, computer equipment, power and building tools, fuel and car keys. NEWTOWN, Geelong West and Hamlyn Heights recorded high numbers of thefts from motor vehicles.
Vehicles targeted were in driveways and front yards of the residential premises, with cash, handbags and power tools stolen.
Other suburbs targeted were Grovedale, Waurn Ponds, Marshall, Wandana Heights, Highton and Belmont, all south of the river with multiple incidents.
A number were parked at the Marshall and Waurn Ponds train stations.
Number plates were stolen from vehicles in Belmont, Wandana Heights, Newtown, Corio, Hamlyn Heights, Norlane, St Albans Park, Geelong and Ocean Grove. NINE vehicles were stolen from Geelong and four from Surf Coast.
Four have since been recovered, with the remainder still outstanding.
Vehicles were stolen from residential premises.
Two vehicles stolen had been left unlocked.
