Nicole’s role is a beauty

-

THE magic and music of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is ready to enchant audiences from next weekend at GPAC’s Playroom Theatre.

Rising star Nicole Kaminski will play the lead role of Belle in the Footlight Production, her second major role in town after playing Heather Chandler in last year’s Heathers: The Musical.

The Perth-born actor is feeling at home among the local theatre scene and said the production company had begun to feel like a second family to her.

Having trained at both the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts as well as Federation University Arts Academy in Ballarat, the musical theatre graduate is looking forward to helping bring the classic French tale to life.

With other notable roles such as Eponine in Les Miserables and Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie on her resume, strong female leads are something the 25-year-old relishes and she can’t wait to take the stage as Belle.

“I love Belle’s personality, and the effect that she has on other characters,” Kaminski said.

“Belle is one of the earlier Disney princesses who is presented as a really strong and confident woman.

“She stands up to the people around her, she has big dreams, she follows her heart and does what she knows is right.”
